This video was produced to support Ozinga Bros. 2015 “Born to Build” Campaign. The script highlights the essential and important contributions made by construction workers to the Ozinga company and the construction industry as a whole. Most importantly, it speaks to workers in their own language, making them feel appreciated and understood.
West Side Tractor
West Side Tractor’s video was created for an internal culture campaign, the aim of which was to clarify and ensure consistency in the company’s values across the organization. At the time, West Side had a core of highly dedicated, long-term employees, but having recently acquired another company they were experiencing rapid growth. The video was made to align their new employees with the company’s long standing values, standards, and expectations as quickly as possible.
Rock Your Future
This series of Facebook posts was part of a recruitment campaign designed to fill key positions requiring specialized skills. The campaign capitalized on Rock Solid’s unique personality and off-the-cuff humor to drive interest and excitement about working for this dynamic, forward-thinking company.

A bit about me
Although I’ve lived in several cities across the US, starting with San Antonio in Texas, I was born and raised in England. I learned how to write from some wonderful teachers at two girls’ schools who valued correct grammar over self-expression and creativity. Thanks to them, I still love a beautifully constructed sentence, but these days I prefer to live by Picasso’s philosophy: “Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.”
In the end, any kind of writing is about the effective communication of ideas, and sometimes the best way to do that is to throw what you think you know out of the nearest window.
When I’m not writing I’m generally hanging around with my family, complaining about those little supermarket stickers on my fruit, looking for my keys, and telling my kids “you’re pronouncing that wrong.”
For the past ten years, I’ve been writing copy for the construction industry through my work at a creative agency, primarily in and around the greater Chicago area. Some companies I’ve written for include Ozinga, West Side Tractor, Rock Solid Stabilization and Reclamation, and F.H. Paschen. I’ve also written for non-profits, educational institutions, and in one case, a movie production company.
